Plea to reinstate ZTBP workers

NAWABSHAH, March 3: The district council, through resolutions adopted on Saturday, condemned the sacking of 1,800 employees of the Zarai Taraqiyati Bank of Pakistan and inflated billing by the Sui Southern Gas Company.

The district council session was held under the chairmanship of convener Abdul Haq Jamali at Pir Qurban Ali hall.

Mohammad Zahid Khanzada tabled a resolution which condemned the sacking of over 1800 employees of the ZTBP and demanded their reinstatement. He said that the government on the one hand was claiming of huge foreign exchange reserves and on the other firing employees from different organisations.

Ghulam Mustafa Soomro tabled another resolution, saying that the SSGC had issued inflated bills to the consumers. He said average bills for two months were sent to the consumers without metre reading which was unjustified.

He demanded of the convener to write a letter to the SSGC authorities, directing them to issue revised bills.

Briefing the session about menace of tuberculosis, the EDO of Health, Dr Abdul Khaliq Mangnejo, said that more than 56 TB centres had been established in the district where 52 doctors and 18 laboratory technicians were performing their duties. He said that at least 3,500 TB patients were registered in the district and claimed that they were getting treatment at the centres.

PARAMEDICS: The members of the paramedics association took out a procession and staged a demonstration outside the press club for acceptance of their demands on Saturday.

The rally started from Nawabshah Medical College Hospital and ended at the press club. Carrying placards, the participants raised slogans against the administration of Nawabshah and Chandka medical colleges.

Speaking on the occasion, president of the association, Saleem Bhatti, said that the paramedical staff was being ignored.
