QUETTA, March 3: People belonging to a minority group held a demonstration here on Saturday in protest against the sale of Cross-shaped cigarette lighters in the city.

They said that if the government did not arrest shopkeepers selling the lighter in the market in two days, they would observe a hunger strike.

Activists of the Young Christian Association gathered outside the press club and raised slogans against the miscreants who were creating hatred among the followers of different faiths.

Sohail James and Jabran of the YCA and Rahim Jafari, president of the Muslim Awami Party, said the production of the lighter had hurt the feelings of Christians and Muslims.

They said that they would not tolerate abuses of religious symbols.

They demanded that the government should take notice of the sale of the lighter in the open market. They said that if the sale was not stopped a demonstration would be held outside the chief minister secretariat.

They said the protest would continue till the fulfilment of their demand.
