Security for Pindi courts stepped up

RAWALPINDI, March 3: Entry of women into the district courts in Rawalpindi has been banned in view of growing security concerns among the judges and lawyers amid terrorist attacks.

The decision was made in a meeting presided over by District and Sessions Judge Khwaja Imtiaz Ahmad.

The meeting also decided that clerks and private secretaries of lawyers would also not be able to enter the courtrooms when hearings were in progress.

These steps are in line with strict security for district courts to avoid any act of sabotage.

Meanwhile, District Bar Association and the Potohar Town police in a meeting finalised a plan to step up security at the entrances to the courts.

Under the plan, only lawyers and judges would be allowed to park the vehicles on the court premises. Police commandos and other security personnel in plain clothes would also be deployed at the main gates.—Online
