KARACHI: ATC adjourns Laiba murder case hearing


KARACHI, March 3: An Anti-Terrorism Court, headed by Ghulam Ali Samito, on Saturday put off the proceedings till March 7, on adjournment plea moved by counsel for accused, in a case about alleged kidnapping for ransom and murder of baby Laiba.

ATC-I Judge adjourned the matter, on application filed on behalf of counsel for accused Advocate Ameer Muhammad Sheikh who cited his personal engagements as excuse.

According to the case reported to the police, a two-and-a-half-year-old girl, Laiba, was allegedly kidnapped for ransom and subsequently murdered in limits of North Nazimabad police by her uncle, Asadullah.

The baby had gone missing on April 28, 2006 and later kidnappers demanded Rs1.5 million as ransom for her release.—APP
