KARACHI: Facilities at harbour

Published March 4, 2007

KARACHI, March 3: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has directed the authorities concerned to ensure modern facilities for the Karachi Fish Harbour Authority in accordance with the international standards.

He issued these directives during his surprise visit to the harbour on Saturday.

Dr Arbab inspected the K-I, K-II and K-III halls and directed officials to install air-conditioners at the K-I and K-II halls because fish in huge quantities was stocked there before it was exported to many countries.

He said there was also a need for ensuring modern facilities at K-III platforms. He ordered officials to improve the condition of roads in the harbour vicinity. He expressed satisfaction over the performance of harbour officials. He lauded efforts by Adviser on Fisheries Faqir Jadam Mangrio in this regard.

The chief minister also met fishermen present there.—PPI
