TIMERGARA, Feb 25: A young man and a girl were killed on suspicion of having illicit relations in the Doag Darra village of the Upper Dir district on Sunday, residents and police sources said.
They said that Ihsanullah was attacked when he was returning home, while the girl was gunned down three hours later.
They said that the victims were neighbours and both were unmarried.
Police said that Ihsanullah’s brother Hidayat Khan had lodged a case with the Sheringal police station, accusing brothers of the girl of the murder. However, no arrests had been made.
Residents said that incidents of honour-killing had sharply risen in Doag Darra locality, where a jirga had decided last year that such cases would not be reported to police.
