KARACHI, Feb 22: Seven victims of Samjhota Express, whose bodies reached here on Thursday morning, were buried in three different graveyards in the afternoon amid moving scenes.

The bodies of Syed Iftikhar Ali, his wife Ashraf Jahan, and their children Syed Hassan Ali, 10, and Mehak Iftikhar, 2, residents of Buffer Zone, Izhar Hussain and his wife Razia Sultana (brother-in-law and sister of Iftikhar Ali), residents of North Karachi, and Mohammed Haroon, resident of F.B. Area, were flown to Karachi from Lahore by a PAF C-130 aircraft.

The funeral prayers of the six family members were offered on a street near the last bus-stop of 7-C in Sector 15-A2, North Karachi.

Later, Ifitikhar Ali, and his ill-fated were buried at Shah Mohammed Graveyard near U.P. More, while Mr and Mrs Izhar Hussain were buried in a graveyard in New Karachi.

People in large numbers including leaders of political parties, attended the funeral.

Another victim of the tragedy, Mohammed Haroon was buried in a graveyard in F. B. Area. Earlier, Sindh minister Rauf Siddiqui and Air Commodore M Hanif Khan, Base Commander PAF Base Faisal along with officers and family members of the deceased were present to receive the bodies.

Meanwhile, the railways administration has started taking added security measures for trains operating between Pakistan and India, after the Samjhota Express tragedy in which 68 passengers lost their lives.
