Russian industrial output falls

MOSCOW, Feb 16: Russian industrial output fell by 11.7 per cent in January from the December level, the federal statistics bureau said on Friday.

It said production usually declined in January because of the number of holidays in the month. Compared with January 2006 industrial production rose 8.4 per cent, the agency said.

The industrial sector in Russia comprises extraction operations, electricity and gas production and distribution and processing plants.—AFP
