KARACHI, Feb 14: Karachi Harbour enjoyed a great second day in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Gold League match when they had defending champions Sialkot in all sorts of trouble at the National Stadium here on Wednesday.
After a career-best 59 by tail-ender Anwar Ali Khan enabled his side reach 293 in their first innings, it was the turn of Karachi Harbour’s bowlers to have Sialkot struggling to 154 for seven at stumps.
Sialkot’s misery was further complicated by a serious injury to Shahid Yousuf, who is unlikely to take further part in the game after his right foot was put in a plaster.
Shahid has a hairline fracture in his right foot ankle after suffering a freak injury while playing football with team-mate Sarfraz Ahmed.
The diminutive batsman was agony when a delivery from paceman Anwar Ali struck bang on the same area in the first over of the innings after opener Atiq-ur-Rehman was dismissed for a second-ball duck.
Fellow pacers Faraz Ahmed and Uzair-ul-Haq kept Sialkot under pressure as they claimed five wickets between them.
Earlier, Anwar had excelled with the bat as he and Faraz put on 63 for the ninth wicket. Anwar’s 133-ball contained seven fours and one six.
