VEHARI, Feb 10: Over 15 people were injured while about a dozen mud houses and makeshift shops were collapsed in rain-related incidents during the last 24 hours in Vehari.

The hailstorm accompanied by heavy rain hit the entire district, disrupting power supply and flooding low-lying areas, including Luddan, Karampur, Machiwal, Muslim Town. While these localities remained without power supply for eight hours. The hailstorm also badly damaged the standing wheat crop in Luddan, Thingi, Karampur, Jalla Jeem, Tibba Sultanpur, Garah Morr, Chakrala, Pipli Stop and other areas.

More than 15 people were injured in rain-related incidents in Vehari and its adjoining areas. Those injured were included Ghulam Rasool, Imran, Husain, Sharif of Luddan area; Wazeer Ali and Nazeer of Thingi Colony; Rafique, Ejaz, Kamran, Tanveer, Zulqarnain, Kulsoom and Khadim of Machiwal.

Dozens of electric meters installed on electric polls outside houses and shops were also burnt in various localities, including Chak 9-11/WB, Peoples Colony and C-Block.

KASUR: The continuous spell of heavy rain paralysed the life in the entire district.

Several roads and streets were awash with rainwater while long hours of power suspension in several localities was also reported.

Meanwhile, farmers have termed the rain beneficial for the wheat crop.

The rain has also exposed the flawed drainage system at Basti Qadirabad, Jannatpura, Basti Lal Shah, Nafees Colony, Mochipura, Salamatpura and Kot Murad Khan.

OKARA: A young milkman was electrocuted at the MCB Chowk here on Saturday morning.

Reports said that Azam Jat of Mian Colony parked his motorcycle along the iron shutter of a closed shop which was electrified. He received a severe shock and died on the spot.

BAHAWALPUR: People faced numerous difficulties owing to two days of drizzling in the city and its suburbs.

According to the Met office, over 14mm of rain was recorded so far. The rainwater accumulated in all low-lying areas, including Shahdara Basti, Baghdad Katchi colonies, Bhutta colonies, Nazirabad Colony, Walled City streets and Zanana Hospital Road.

SIALKOT: The power supply remained suspended for several hours in Daska and its outskirts.

All civic and business activities remained badly disrupted due to long hour of outage in all the congested residential, commercial and industrial areas.

CHINIOT: Seven people sustained injuries when the roof of a furniture workshop collapsed due to heavy rain in Thathi Sharqi here on Saturday.

According to APP, artisans were at work when the workshop roof collapsed on them. As a result, seven people, including Shabbir, Aurangzeb, Hanif and Asad Ali, suffered injuries. They were rushed to the local THQ Hospital.
