LAHORE, Feb 10: The Punjab Bar Council (PBC) on Saturday took strong notice of an alleged attack on journalists by a group of lawyers and issued show cause notice to Advocate Muazzam Iqbal Gill besides seeking his personal appearance on Feb 15.

The council also directed Advocate Gill to explain as to why disciplinary action should not be initiated against him for manhandling three journalists.

PBC issued the order while proceeding on a joint resolution adopted by the Lahore Press Club (LPC) and the Punjab Union of Journalists (PUJ) as well as two written complaints moved by the journalists’ bodies and victim Saqlain Javed.

Court reporters Amir Riaz, Saqlain Javed and Habib Chohan were injured critically when a group of lawyers, headed by Muazzam Gill, attacked them on Feb 7. Mr Gill is also a candidate for the coming LHCBA election. — Staff Reporter
