Five arrested in Turbat

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, Feb 5: Law-enforcement agencies arrested five suspects from Turbat on Monday in connection with subversive activities, while 32 Iranian and Afghan nationals were taken into custody from different areas of the province.

According to official sources, security personnel raided some places in the outskirts of Turbat on information about the presence of people allegedly involved in rocket attacks, bomb blasts and other subversive activities.

One of the detainees was identified as Ghulam Jan, sources said, adding that weapons and ammunition were found in his possession.

All the five suspects were handed over to the authorities concerned for interrogation.

The 32 Afghan and Iranian nationals were detained in the border town of Chaman, Turbat and Dalbandin. They had crossed into Pakistan without legal documents.

Twenty-seven of them are Afghans and 5 Iranians who have been booked under the Foreigners Act and handed over to the FIA.

Law-enforcement agencies have also detained 27 Pakistanis who were going to Mand, a town on the Pakistan-Iran border, to cross into Iran illegally. They also have been handed over to FIA.
