SIALKOT, Feb 3: The driver of a landlord was shot dead, while he himself was injured seriously by an alleged proclaimed offender and his three accomplices over an old enmity near village Begowala, Sambrial tehsil, on Saturday evening.

Nisar Ahmad and his driver Mazhar were going to fields in a jeep when PO Iqbal alias Bala Bomb and his accomplices, who were riding in a car, opened fire on the jeep, killing the driver on the spot and injuring the landlord. He was referred to Mayo Hospital, Lahore, due to his critical condition.

The car of the attackers skidded off the road and fell in fields and they escaped on foot.

Begowala police have registered a case.

BEATEN UP: A Gepco team was kept hostage for several hours and beaten up by the alleged power thieves in Baangey village on Friday.

A Pasrur sub-division No 1 team, led by SDO Tahir Ameer, raided the village and caught Muhammad Zafar, Muhammad Azam and others stealing electricity by tampering with the meters.

They and their more then 20 companions, including Saeed, Amjad and Sarwar, kept them hostage at gunpoint and thrashed them. Later, they freed the hostages after snatching mobile phones and several meters from them.

Qila Ahmadabad police have registered a case with no arrest.

ARRESTED: The Daska police have arrested an alleged drug trafficker, Sadaqat Ali alias Teni Shah, red handed from Maallo Mahay village in Daska.

Police recovered one kilogram of hashish from his possession.
