KARACHI, Feb 3: The Governor Sindh, Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, said on Saturday that the Sindh government had requested the federal government to provide high-tech weapons and other latest equipment for Sindh Rangers to enhance their capacity to deal with the terrorism menace.

The governor said this during a visit to the Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) headquarters where he was greeted by its Director General, Major General Javed Zia. Adviser on Home Affairs, Waseem Akhtar and the heads of various law enforcement agencies were also present.

The governor commended the rangers’ efforts in ensuring peace during Muharram. He called upon the law enforcers to remain in a state of high alert to avert any untoward incident.

Talking to the media Ishratul Ibad appreciated the rangers role in the maintenance of law and order during Muharram. He praised the coordination between police and Rangers and tactical division of responsibilities.

Speaking on the occasion, the DG rangers said that to meet the threat of militancy and terrorism, the rangers anti-terrorist company had been upgraded to wing level.
