KARACHI, Feb 1: Speakers at a function on Thursday said that earlier the calendars were used just to see the dates but over the years they had been developed to present the country’s culture, history, heritage, etc.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Japanese Calendar Exhibition 2007 organised by the Japan Cultural Centre, they said calendars were ambassadors of their country and played an important role in portraying their country’s image.
More than 80 beautiful calendars – in several categories ranging from landscape, nature, wildlife, people, automobiles, art, etc -- are on display at the exhibition, which has been an annual feature at the Japanese Cultural Centre for the past many years. The exhibition will remain open till Feb 16, from 10am and 4pm daily.
Consul-general Shoichi Nakano, stage and television compere Anwer Maqsood, Hamdard Foundation chief Sadia Rashid and Fatima Surriya Bajia inaugurated the exhibition at a function attended among others by various diplomats in the city.
