SWABI, Jan 31: Two people, including a passer-by, were killed and three injured when some unidentified persons opened fire on them in the main bazaar here on Wednesday. Bahadur Khan and his son Muhammad Yaseen were released from the Swabi judicial lock-up and were on their way to the bus stop. When they reached the old bus stand they were attacked by some unidentified assailants.

Muhammad Yaseen, 26, and a passer-by, Muhammad Maqbool, were killed on the spot. Farhad Khan of Tarakai and a teenager, Qaiser Iqbal of Swabi, received minor injuries.

Father of the deceased was shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital in a serious condition. According to police, the dispute over a girl’s marriage was behind the attack.

According to eyewitnesses, some assailants escaped from the scene on foot and others on car. However, police said that none of Bahadur Khan’s relatives had so far come forward to lodge an FIR. “They know their enemies as it was not an accident,” a police official pointed out.
