KARACHI: PPP seeks suo motu notice on harassment

KARACHI, Jan 20: The legislators belonging to Pakistan People’s Party appealed to the Supreme Court of Pakistan to take suo motu notice against those who were harassing party’s minority leader Dr Khatumal Jeewan.

In a joint statement, PPP legislators Nawab Mohammad Yousuf Talpur, Mir Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani, MPAs Jam Saifullah Dharejo and Humera Alwani condemned the harassment of Dr Jeewan.

They said some unidentified men had been chasing him for the last many days in private vehicles bearing no registration plates. “They don’t spare even his small school-going son and continue to follow and chase them whenever out of home,” they added.

The PPP leaders termed it a part of the Musharraf regime’s policy to harass and pressurise the party ahead of general elections.

They urged the apex court to take suo motu notice of the harassment and take action against the responsible government agencies and officials.
