PESHAWAR: Pesco recovery drive begins

PESHAWAR, Jan 11: Pesco has started a campaign for recovery of its arrears of Rs487.650 million outstanding against various provincial government departments. Pesco spokesman Shaukat Afzal Khan said that notices had been issued to defaulting departments to pay their arrears immediately and in case of non-compliance their connections would be disconnected.

Of the total arrears, tehsil municipal administrations of the local government department owe Rs142 million to Pesco, he said.

He said that Pesco was facing a shortage of funds to meet its extensive development plans to provide better facilities to consumers due to non-payment attitude by some defaulting departments as well as private individuals.

The company has no other option, but to disconnect the power supply, he said, and added defaulted departments had been directed to deposit their outstanding arrears without any further delay to avoid any inconvenience.—APP
