Excise, ACE officials clash

By S. Raza Hassan

KARACHI, Dec 23: Officials of two law-enforcement agencies on Saturday came to blows, resulting in broken bones and aerial firing near the excise director’s office in the Sindh Secretariat.

Police said that Abdul Rahim, a constable in ACE, slapped another constable Munawar Khokhar while he was returning from an errand.

The latter suffered a fracture. Officials shifted the injured to the hospital.

They then took Abdul Rahim in illegal custody, confining him to the premises of the excise director’s office.

Later, some 15 to 20 officials of the ACE reached the Excise office and allegedly attacked Inspector Waseen Shah. They ripped off his uniform. The inspector started shooting in the air in self-defence.
