PESHAWAR, Dec 22: A ‘fatwa’ calling upon Muslims to wage a “jihad against non-governmental organisations”, including the UN and human rights organisations, has been distributed in Darra Adamkhel.

The ‘fatwa’ attributed to one Mufti Khalid Shah, who claims to have a master’s degree in Arabic, Islamiyat and political science, urged the people to attack workers, offices and vehicles of the NGOs “promoting the agenda of the Jews and Christians”.

Residents of Darra Adamkhel said they did not know much about Khalid Shah but said copies of the ‘fatwa’ had been pasted in the mosques and markets of the town. A resident told Dawn by telephone on Friday that the posters were distributed about two weeks ago.—Bureau
