KARACHI: KESC claiming withdrawn surcharge

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Dec 17: The Karachi Electricity Supply Corporation failed to honour its words on extension of bill payment date for the month of October and received late payment surcharge.

The KESC authorities had announced extension of date in October up to 31st due to Eid holidays, which appeared in a section of press. Many consumers claimed that banks were not informed about the decision. Some of the consumers, however, succeeded in depositing their bill payment but they were shocked to receive the next month bill along with arrears of late payment surcharge.

A consumer of Nazimabad (number AL106147) complained that he deposited his bill payment on Oct 31. The bill amount was Rs17,126 while late payment surcharge was Rs1,932, which was not paid as the KESC had announced extension in payment date.

He was surprised to receive the November bill as it carried the arrear of late payment surcharge.

He made a complaint at a local KESC office in this regard but his complaint was set aside.
