Three cops arrested in torture case

KHAIRPUR, Dec 15: Faiz Ganj police on Thursday booked three of their colleagues on charges of subjecting an arrested man to severe torture and humiliation.

ASI Ghulam Akbar Khaskheli stated in an FIR filed under section 337 PPC that Head Constable Arbab Ali Ansari and constables Imam Ali Lashari and Mushtaq Hussain Khaskheli moved Niaz Ali Shar from Faiz Ganj police station to Mori police picket on December 13 and subjected him to severe torture.

Police arrested all the accused and produced them in the court of judicial magistrate on Friday who remanded them in police custody for three days. Police also produced Niaz Ali Shar who told the court that he had been subjected to inhuman torture.

The magistrate directed the police to provide treatment to the victim.

KILLED: A man left his sister seriously injured on Friday before he shot dead another man suspecting him of having illicit relations with her in Jumo Khan Mari village in the jurisdiction of Tando Masti police station, Kingri taluka.

Reports reaching here said that Mohammad Aslam Mari shot dead Hazaro Mari, 28, and then fired on his sister Hanifa leaving her seriously injured. She was admitted to civil hospital Khairpur.

Police handed over the body to relatives after autopsy.
