LAHORE, Dec 14: Two people were killed and as many others injured by rivals in the Hanjarwal area on Thursday evening.
Police said four members of Malik Nisar’s group came to Malik Jameel’s outhouse at around 6:30pm in Mureed Wal village at Thokar Niaz Beg.
After some conversation, they opened fire on Jameel, 40, his nephew Faisal, 27, and two gunmen Tariq, 35, and Tanveer, 32, leaving them injured on the spot.
The injured were rushed to the Jinnah Hospital where Jameel and Tariq succumbed to their injuries while Faisal and Tanveer were stated to be critical.
Hanjarwal SPO Tariq Mehmood said that Malik Jameel of the Kalu group and Malik Nisar of the Zaildar group lived in the same village. They had an old rivalry that had claimed over 40 lives in the last 15 years.
A young woman, unidentified so far, was shot dead allegedly by a motorcyclist in the Lytton Road area on Thursday noon.
Lytton Road SPO Multan Khan said on eyewitnesses’ account that a couple on a motorcycle was arguing over some issue. The motorcyclist stopped the two-wheeler near New Chungi Park, shot the pillion and escaped.
The SPO suspected that the killer might have an affair with the girl and killed over some dispute.
The police removed the body to the city morgue for autopsy while a case was registered against the killer.

MAN DIES: An unconscious man, unidentified so far, who was brought to Mayo Hospital on Thursday, died.
ACCIDENT: An elderly man was crushed to death by a speeding vehicle in the Old Anarkali area here on Thursday.
Allah Ditta, 60, of Madina Town, was crossing the Mall Road on a bicycle when a car hit him. He was rushed to Services Hospital where he died.
