Gas supply to 10 units suspended

By Our Correspondent

GUJRANWALA, Dec 14: The Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) on Thursday temporarily suspended supply to 10 big industrial units in the city under its load management programme and reduced pressure for domestic consumers.

Factory owners and residents of different localities have expressed their resentment in this regard, demanding the required supply.

When contacted SNGPL regional manager Chaudhry Nazir Ahmad confirmed suspension of gas supply to units, saying that it would be restored shortly.

However, he denied loadshedding, saying that low pressure in winter was because of freezing of gas in pipelines. He claimed that gas was being supplied to domestic consumers as usual.

KILLED: Two people were killed while a passer-by suffered injuries in an accident on GT Road near Rahwali on Thursday.

Reports said Shafqat Husain of Lahore and Suleman Javed of Rawalpindi were on their way from Islamabad to Lahore by a car (RIZ-5986). Near Rahwali, a tyre of the vehicle blasted and it rammed into a roadside wall. As a result of which, both were killed on the spot while the passer-by was shifted to Mayo Hospital, Lahore owing to his critical condition.

The Cantonment police have handed over bodies to the heirs.
