GUJRANWALA, Dec 14: Some unidentified men on Thursday kidnapped a 10-year-old boy from Baghbanpura and later demanded Rs5 million ransom for his release.
Reports said Majid Amin, a student of a local primary school, was missing for the last several hours. His father Muhammad Amin, a small trader, started searching him. In the meantime, the accused contacted him and demanded Rs5 million ransom for release of his son.
Mr Amin said, “I am not a rich man and I have offered Rs100,000 which is my total saving, but they are threatening to kill Majid.”
Baghbanpura police have registered a case under Section 365-A. No arrest or recovery was made till the filing of this report.
The Thursday’s incident added to the tally of such cases in the recent past and the kidnappers mostly get away with the police action.
ACCIDENT: A girls’ schoolteacher was killed while her father-in-law suffered injuries in a road accident on GT Road near Ghakkhar Town on Thursday.
Reports said Khalida, mother of a child, was on her way to Sambrial along with her father-in-law Rafique by a motorcycle (STP-1375). Near Aujala Kalan canal bridge, a speeding car hit them from the rear side. Police have arrested driver of the car and registered a case against him.
DIES: A prisoner died mysteriously here on Thursday.
Reports said 25-year-old Maqsood Ahmad of Lohianwala was arrested by Aroop police in a theft case and sent to jail. He was shifted to jail hospital from his barrack due to his deteriorating condition where he died. The jail doctor claimed that he died of cardiac arrest.
