KOHAT, Dec 14: NWFP Governor Ali Mohammad Jan Orakzai on Thursday said that the government was utilising maximum resources to bring literacy on a par with developed countries.

Addressing the second convocation of the Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST) here, he said that students should give equal importance to both science and arts subjects.

He suggested that besides education, the students should also take part in extracurricular activities, which would produce the best leadership from among them.

He said that students were the future of the country and must be provided excellent education facilities.

Later, the governor distributed degrees and gold medals among 200 students who had completed various courses during 2005.

Those who received gold medals are: Rabia Khan, BCS; Mehtab Alam, Business Information and Technology; Sabina Irshad, B.Ed; Yusra Omar, B.Sc; Abdul Wahid, M.A. Arabic; Javed Khan, M.A. Islamiyat; Khalil ur Rehman, M.A. Pushto; Tariq Iqbal, M.A. Political Science; Sobia Tariq, MBA; Nargis Khatoon, Master of Computer Science; Syed Mohammad Mansoor Shah, Master of Information Technology; Saima Mehnaz, M.Sc Chemistry; and Shams Ullah, M.A. Pushto.
