Frontier JUI-F opposes resignations

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, Dec 14: The NWFP chapter of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl) has endorsed the stance of the party’s central Shoora that the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal members should not resign from the National Assembly.

The decision was taken at a two-day JUI-F provincial Shoora meeting presided over by Senator Maulana Gul Naseeb Khan, which concluded here on Thursday.

The senator alleged at a press conference that generals were hatching a conspiracy to instigate the MMA parliamentarians to resign so that the assemblies could be dissolved.

He said the MMA would not provide a pretext to rulers to derail the democratic system.

He said the women’s protection law had been introduced to create a rift in opposition. He said it was unfortunate that the People’s Party Parliamentarians had supported the bill.

He said the JUI-F would continue its protest movement for the supremacy of the constitution and democratic institutions.

The senator said the provincial government would establish the institution of Hasba and enforce the law after the governor’s assent to the bill.

The institution would help the government eliminate corruption, he added.
