No harm in deal with army: CM

By Our Correspondent

SUKKUR, Dec 13: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim said on Wednesday that he saw no harm in coming to power after cutting deals with army.

Z A Bhutto became prime minister as a result of a deal with Gen Yahya Khan and his daughter Benazir Bhutto followed in his footsteps by striking a deal with Ghulam Ishaq Khan in 1988 for the premiership, the chief minister said while talking to newsmen during his visit to the Central Jail-I.

Earlier, inaugurating the first canal-lining project of the province at Korai Wah of Pano Aqil taluka about 25 kilometres from here, the chief minister said that the government had allocated Rs13 billion for brick-lining of canals and minors in the province under the Water Vision of President General Pervez Musharraf.

He blamed the cultivation of rice on the left bank of Indus River for salinity and water-logging, which he said was banned under law, and directed Sukkur DCO Shafiq Ahmed Khoso to enforce the ban in letter and spirit.
