Robbers kill tailor

LAHORE, Dec 12: Robbers shot dead a man on resistance in the city on Tuesday. Six robbers, in police uniform, intercepted Suzuki rider Allah Ditta of Chowinda, Sialkot, on Bund Road in Badami Bagh and demanded cash and valuables at gunpoint early Tuesday. When he put up resistance, the robbers opened fire on him, leaving him seriously injured. They escaped with Rs50,000 in cash and other valuables.

Ditta was rushed to the Mayo Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. However, Ravi division SP said six robbers, carrying a gun and sticks, had taken away Rs2,500 only.

Allah Ditta, 40, a tailor by profession, is survived by eight children. He had come to Lahore to drop his nephews at the airport.

In other incidents, four women robbers came to Asif’s house at 2-Millat Park, Ichhra, and took away Rs30,000 in cash, 100 Saudi Riyals, jewellery worth one million rupees, four wrist watches and other valuables.

Police said the accused armed with a pistol and a knife held women and children hostage before collecting the booty. It said the women entered the house on the pretext of seeking a job.

The Icchra SPO however disputed the worth of the loot and claimed the women had only taken away Rs3,000 cash and some gold.

Two motorcyclists came to Ittefaq Store at Block-6, Township, held Shahzad at gunpoint and took away Rs50,000 in cash from him.

Abdul Wahab was on way home when two robbers intercepted him in front of a filling station in Model Town and snatched Rs24,000 in cash and a cell phone from him.

Three men burst into Usman General Store at Hunza Block, Iqbal Town, and snatched Rs17,000 in cash and a cell phone from Imran while two robbers intercepted Asif near Bilal Mosque in Ravi Block and deprived him of Rs20,000 in cash.

Two armed motorcyclists intercepted a Haleeb Milk van and snatched Rs40,000 in cash from cashier while three robbers snatched Rs35,000 from another Haleeb milk van in Model Town area —Reporter
