PTTF to launch ranking system

KARACHI, Dec 6: The Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) has decided to launch national ranking system which will come into effect soon after completion of country’s premier championship, its president S. M. Sibtain said on Wednesday.

Prominent peddlers are to vie for honours when the 44th National Table Tennis Championship gets into action at Faisalabad from Dec 19.

Seven golds will be at stake in men’s and women’s singles, doubles and team events besides the mixed doubles in the competition which ends on Dec 24.

In addition to the affiliated units of Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) namely Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, NWFP, Habib Bank, Railways, Wapda and Islamabad departments who have playing rights will field their teams.

The executive committee and annual general meeting of PTTF will be held separately on Dec 24 at Faisalabad to dispose off heavy agenda.

Besides confirming the minutes of the previous two meetings held on Dec 30 last, the executive committee and AGM among other things will approve annual report, audited accounts, budget for 2006-07 and 2007-08 and calendar.

Meanwhile, the PTTF president has eulogised the services of its dedicated organiser, Shuja Haider who died the other day.
