DOHA, Dec 5: China powered their way to a hat-trick of consecutive Asian Games women's team badminton titles by crushing Japan 3-0 in the final on Tuesday.

It was China's eighth team gold since their maiden success at the 1974 Tehran Games and they have missed out on the title only once in 1994 when the South Koreans won.

World number one Zhang Ning set the tone with a 21-13 21-15 victory over Kaori Mori in the opening singles before Yang Wei and Zhang Jiewen made it 2-0, defeating Kumiko Ogura and Reiko Shiota 21-8 21-15 in the first doubles. —Reuters
