PESHAWAR, Dec 5: A meeting of the standing committee of the NWFP Assembly on home and tribal affairs on Tuesday discussed the increasing street crime rate and the law and order situation in the provincial capital.
The meeting was presided over by MPA Bashir Ahmad Bilour and attended by MPAs Attiqur Rehman, Mukhtiar Ali, Riffat Jabeen, Muneeba, Shahzada Mansurul Mulk, Hangu district nazim Ghaniur Rehman, NWFP police chief Riffat Pasha, home secretary Badshah Gul Wazir, Peshawar DCO, Hangu DPO and Peshawar SSP (Investigation) Qazi Jamil.
Mr Pasha informed the meeting about the overall law and order situation in the province, especially Peshawar. The committee took notice of the kidnapping for ransom incidents and directed the NWFP police chief to take steps for curbing the crime rate.—APP
