Afghan boy’s family being forced to patch up
ISLAMABAD, Dec 4: The father and grandfather of the six-year- old Afghan boy killed after being hit by a government-owned vehicle in Islamabad last week are being “influenced” for a patch-up, Dawn has learnt.
They returned to Islamabad on Monday after laying their loved one to rest in their native village in Afghanistan.
A close family friend of the victim claimed that the boy’s father was being approached by the ministry and PWD people for a “compromise”, saying the accident was a will of God.
In another related development, SI Athar Khan, who was probing into the death of the boy, has been suspended by the senior superintendent of Islamabad police and directed to report to the police lines.
The SHO Margalla Mohammad Saddique has been appointed as the investigating officer.
“The SI, Athar Khan took it as a normal accident and did not investigate the matter on right lines,” SHO Saddique said.
