ISLAMABAD, Dec 3: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said on Sunday that general elections would be held on schedule and parliament would complete its tenure for the first time in the country’s history.
“The PML and its allied parties are working for strengthening democratic institutions in the country,” said the prime minister while talking to Minister of State for Finance Omer Ayub Khan and MNAs Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada and Sardar Tufail Ahmad who called on him at the PM's House here.
He said the country had seen unprecedented economic development and political stability during the tenure of the PML and allies. Their performance in office would form basis of their performance in elections, he added.
He said the benefits of economic development had started reaching the people who would again vote for the PML and its allies.
On the occasion, the MNAs briefed the prime minister about the ongoing development schemes in their respective constituencies. They said on completion, these development schemes would improve the socio-economic condition of the people.—APP
