LAHORE, Dec 3: Fancied bay colt, Thrill, responded really well to jockey Salah-ud-Din's urging to land success in the prestigious Rana Velvet Pakistan St. Leger run over 2000m at the Racecourse on Sunday.

The colt owned by Javaid Khalid and trained by Haji Fazal Hadi beat Lahore's turf queen, Trace Hit by three-fourths of a length.

Trace Hit took a flying start and went on to lead but was caught by Thrill in the last 200m.

Both fought a grim battle but Trace Hit came under pressure and burst her blood vessel.

Her stable mate, Fajr finished third while Para Game completed the frame.

Thrill, a progeny of Baker's Gate out-of-Polly Game, had won the Pakistan Derby in March last and this was his second crown of the year.

Veteran jockey Salah-ud-Din gave a dazzling display of horsemanship bringing home three winners to recall his hey day feat of victories. He rode home Total Surprise, Thrill and Fruity in the fourth, fifth and seventh race, respectively.

Haji Fazal Hadi and A. B. Malik distinguished themselves among the trainers registering a double each. Hadi sent out Baker's Gal and Thrill while Malik saddled Total Surprise and Fruity.

Haji's winners also earned a lucrative double for owner Javaid Khalid.

The most impressive performer of the day was the four-year-old bay filly, Baker's Gal.

She defeated Who Dares by a big margin of over ten lengths. She equalled the fastest timing over 1300m of one minute 18 3/5 secs set up by Lucky Winner on May 8, 2005.

Fancied bay filly, Richy Dancer, who was beaten twice made amends by winning the nursery plate for two-year-old colts and fillies run over 1000m. Trained by Sohail Aziz the filly was partnered by jockey Shahid Rehman in the first race.

Shahid Rehman later had a fall from favourite filly Ferrari in the second race

Coming from behind , Shahid found an opening in between Charming King and Royal Gambler but Ferrari skidded and Shahid lost balance and fell.

In the following race Shahid rode Namroud but he failed to give the colt a good ride and during the race stopped his hands and heels due to pain. He did not ride in subsequent races.
