Published December 4, 2006

LAHORE, Dec 3: The plains of Punjab on Sunday received light rain owing to a westerly system which also generated snowfall in the Northern Areas.

Cloudy weather and scattered drizzle dropped temperature in Lahore from Saturday’s 23 degrees Celsius to 21 degrees Celsius, making people to wear warm clothes.

The change in weather increased the demand of dry fruit, warm clothes and fish and gave an upward push to their prices.

People started using heaters and thronged city’s several secondhand cloth markets to get their supplies.

According to the Met office, Faisalabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin, Sargodha, Jhelum and Bahawalpur also received light rain.

Malamjabba received first snowfall of the winter.

It forecast chances of light to moderate rain in almost the entire Punjab during the next 24 hours.
