Wagon accident leaves four dead


GUJRANWALA, Dec 3: Four passengers were killed while another 15 suffered injuries when a wagon rammed into a roadside tree on Sialkot Road near Sodara on Sunday night.

Reports said that the Wazirabad-bound wagon was on its way from Daska when the incident occurred due to overspeeding. As a result, four people died instantly while 15 others received injuries. They were rushed to the Wazirabad THQ Hospital. The identity of the dead and the injured could not be established till the filing of this report.

LOOTED: Armed bandits looted two houses, a filling station, a couple and injured a woman on resistance in four different strikes in and around the city here on Sunday.

According to reports reaching here, some half-a-dozen dacoits entered Rehmat Ali’s house by scaling its boundary wall in Kamoki. Armed bandits held hostage inmates, locked them in a room, collected Rs50,000 in cash, ornaments worth Rs200,000 and other valuables and escaped.

Two bandits sneaked into the house of Ghulam Rasul in Garjakh and held up the family members at pistol point. The intruders gathered jewellery, Rs175,000 in cash and other valuables. Before fleeing, they also injured Bilqees Bibi with a knife when she resisted.

Three armed men came to the filling station on Hafizabad Road and snatched Rs80,000 in cash from Suleman Arif and Saleem and a rifle from guard Munawer Khan. Car riders intercepted motorcyclists Ajmal and his wife on Kashmir Road and deprived them of Rs10,000 in cash and jewellery worth Rs90,000 at gunpoint. — Correspondent
