DADU: Schools funded by BHP opened in Johi villages

DADU, Dec 2: Three primary girls schools with an enrolment of 263 students were opened in three villages of UC Phulji, on Friday. Funds for these schools were provided by BHP Biliton, which is exploring gas from Bhit Jabal, Johi taluka.

The schools were opened in Dhani Bux Leghari, Allah Bachayo Jamali and Mothri villages . An inauguration ceremony was also held at primary girls school, Dhani Bux Leghari village.

Speaking on the occasion, MPA Dr Sajeela Leghari said that BHP Billiton should extend its help in the education sector and open more such girls schools in Johi.

The community development officer of BHP Billiton, Ali Akbar Rahimoon, said that the company was utilising one per cent income on social development sectors through NGOs and district government.

He said that with the establishment of these schools, literacy rate among women would be increased . He assured that BHP Billiton would spend more funds on the education sector.
