Trade with Tajikistan discussed

LAHORE, Dec 1: Tajikistan Industries Minister Saidov Zayed said on Friday that there was enormous scope for boosting bilateral trade between Pakistan and his country.

Speaking at a meeting of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry here, he said that his government had eased visa policy to facilitate increase in trade and investment.

Road link between two countries would also be completed next year.

He said that businessmen of both the countries could launch joint ventures in textile, gas, petrol, mining, agriculture, poultry, livestock, food processing and confectionary sectors. Eight economic cooperation agreements signed during the visit of President of Tajikistan had helped in increasing economic cooperation between the two countries.

Chamber President Shahid Hassan Sheikh stressed the need for an airlink between Pakistan and Tajikistan.

He said that volume of bilateral trade between Pakistan and Tjikistan was hardly $7.9 million which required to be increased.
