SHIKARPUR, Nov 29: Ali Bux alias Allu Marfani and Ghanwar Marfani were gunned down near Meero Bridge on Wednesday evening.

Reports reaching here said that 10 armed men killed the two when they were returning from Shahan Marfani village after attending fateha for Ali Jan Marfani who was murdered on Tuesday night.

Area people said the double murder was an offshoot of a running dispute between Marfanis and Brohis.

Meanwhile, Garhi Yasin police registered a case against Himat Ali Brohi, Gulsher Brohi, Muslim Brohi, Faqeero Brohi and Shahnawaz Brohi on the complaint of Ameer Bux Marfani.

PROTEST: Activists of Jamiat-i-Ulema-i-Pakistan (JUP) held a protest meeting at Hamayoon on Wednesday against the passage of women’s rights bill.

The meeting decided to launch a protest drive in the district from December 3 according to the directives of JUP central leadership.

Moulana Mian Abdul Baqi, central joint secretary presided over the meeting, which was attended by MMA Provincial Vice-President Moulana Mohammad Sharif Sarki, Provincial President JUP Allama Hafeezur Rehman Jamali, District President Hafiz Mohammad Umer Mirani and Mian Abdul Basit.

COUNCIL: Shikarpur district council on Wednesday decided through a resolution to approach Sindh chief minister and PPO Sindh over worsening law and order situation in the district due to police’s negligence.

The council’s meeting presided over by Taqi Abbasi Kamario condemned police torture of naib nazim of union council Chhatto Mangi and offered fateha for the late MPA Agha Tariq Khan.

The council passed resolutions demanding enhancement in the honorarium for nazims, naib nazims and councillors of union council, taluka council and district council.
