LAHORE, Nov 28: Punjab dominated boys and girls events on the first day of the National Junior athletics championship at the Punjab Stadium on Tuesday.
In boys' event, Punjab athletes grabbed 106 points to lead the points table. Punjab won all nine gold medals on the first day, including two by Adeel Akhtar in 400m race and 110m hurdles. Punjab also claimed seven silver and two bronze medals.
Islamabad with 56 points were runners-up, grabbing two silver and seven bronze medals. Sindh with a bronze medal scored 23 points to come at third spot.
In girls's category, Punjab led with 78 points, seizing six gold, three silver, and four bronze medals. For Punjab Nadia Zulifqar won three gold medals. Sindh are in second place with 63 points with two gold, five silver and two bronze medals while Islamabad are at third with 27 points, with two bronze medals.
