KOHTA: Highwaymen’s gang busted

KOHTA, Nov 25: Police have busted a gang of highway robbers in a 24-hour long operation and recovered lethal weapons from the possession of its members, according to a police official.

Police conducted raids in different parts of the district and picked up seven members of the gang, District Police Officer Khalid Mahmood told a press conference.

He said that the gang had killed a truck driver in Nasratkhel on Nov 17 when he offered resistance to a robbery bid. Similar incidents had been happening on the Kohat-Parachinar route for a couple of years, he added.

Those arrested were identified as Obedullah, Khan Shah Gul, Zuhebullah, Hamzallah, Bilal, Yousuf and Habib. Two of them were wanted in murder attempt cases, the DPO said and added that the gang had let loose a reign of terror in their native village Nasratkhel.
