DURBAN, Nov 24: Former South African fast bowler Allan Donald on Friday said the struggling Indian cricket were already missing former skipper Sourav Ganguly on the tour and he should have been included in the squad alongwith Vurrupu Laxman for the testing tour.
“India's batting collapse makes me believe they are a batter or two short on this trip. I can't believe that Sourav Ganguly and Laxman have been left out. They must be sitting at home wondering what have they done wrong to get the axe,” wrote Donald in his column for a leading South African daily on Friday. “We haven't seen much of Sourav in the last one year but he is a class player, and has been one for some time.”
“The Indians were caught on the hop in the ODI, batting under the lights. Teams in the past have struggled batting second in Kingsmead. I must say, though, that Irfan Pathan's omission took me by surprise,” wrote Donald.—Agencies
