KARACHI: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has decided to give a human rights award to Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Mian Raza Rabbani for his contributions to the cause of human rights in Pakistan.
According to a Pakistan Peoples Party press release issued here Thursday, a meeting of the HRCP Award Committee held in Lahore with its Chairman S. M. Zafar in the chair also decided to present awards to Justice (rtd) Majida Rizwi, slain journalist Hayatullah and renowned writer late Ashfaq Ahmed for their contributions in this field.
A ceremony to give away the awards will be held in the first week of January 2007 in Lahore.-—PPI
