TOBA TEK SINGH, Nov 22: Fertiliser dealers continued their strike on Wednesday in protest against fixing of Rs853 per bag price of DAP by the district administration.
They were demanding inclusion of at least Rs5 per bag profit.
A dealers’ association spokesman told newsmen that they had purchased the fertiliser at the rate of Rs853 and it was impossible for them to sell at the same price.
ELECTED UNOPPOSED: Bypolls could not be held on various reserved seats in 13 union councils of the district on Wednesday as all candidates were elected unopposed in 10 UCs while no one filed nomination papers in three UCs.
Those elected unopposed included a councillor (peasant) in UC-68, a minority and peasant councillors in UC-70, a minority councillor in UC-72, a woman councillor in UC-73, a peasant councillor in UC-78, a woman and minority councillors in UC-80 and a minority councillor in UC-60.
In three UCs, election will be held later as no candidate filed nomination papers.
