NEW DELHI, Nov 22: Visiting Chinese President Hu Jintao urged India's Communist leaders on Wednesday to take a more “pragmatic” line on issues such as economic development.
Hu told a delegation of Left leaders to adopt a “more pragmatic and positive approach” to developing India's economy and creaking infrastructure, a day after New Delhi and Beijing decided to increase commercial ties, according to the Press Trust of India.
Hu, whose four-day visit is the first to India by a Chinese president in a decade, invited the Left leaders to China to see first-hand progress made by the communist nation, which has the world's fastest-growing major economy.
The Left parties have drawn flak from the ruling Congress government for their opposition to policies like privatisation and foreign investment.—AFP
