National Amateur Golf begins tomorrow

KARACHI, Nov 21: The 72-hole 46th National Amateur Golf Championship begins at Islamabad Club on Thursday.

For the first time the event is being contested on gross only and golfers having nine or below handicap are eligible to compete, secretary, Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF), Taimur Hasan, said on Tuesday.

A five-nation team event runs simultaneously in addition to seniors, juniors and ladies competitions. Teams from Malaysia, India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh besides the hosts will feature in the contest.

The Sri Lankan team has arrived in the capital while the other three are due to reach early Wednesday morning.
