KARACHI, Nov 19: The menace of ball tampering refuses to leave Pakistan cricket as Test paceman Mohammad Khalil was fined for the offence in a domestic match.

“The match-referee fined Khalil on Sunday for tampering with the ball,” PCB official Colonel (retd) Naushad Ali said.

Umpires Riazuddin and Shakil Khan had changed the ball and penalised Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited five runs in the Patrons Trophy match against Customs on Saturday.

Sources claimed that Khalil and his team were fined Rs30,000 in the hearing.

On Sunday, ZTBL resumed their innings on overnight score of 115 for five at NBP Sports Complex. Adnan Raza, Inam-ul-Haq and Afaq Raheem hit half-centuries.

For Customs, Rizwan Akber grabbed four wickets for 62 runs while Junaid Zia took three for 50 runs.

Needing 395 to win, Customs scored 97 for loss of five wickets in their second innings at close of third day’s play of their four-day match. Kashif Siddiq was not out on 59. Mohammad Khalid shown with the ball and took three wickets for 14 runs.
