Alam shines as Lahore team win

LAHORE, Nov 16: Six-goal Shah Qubilai Alam steered Lahore Chatkhara to a commendable 7-5 win against Harvesters in the TCL Polo Cup on Thursday. The losers led the first chukker 4-2 by virtue of their two-goal handicap.

Qubilai scored two goals, but Raja Amer Khan struck back, slamming back-to-back goals for the losers to make it 4-2.

In the second chukker, Qubilai reduced the lead 5-4, scoring two more while Abdul Haseeb Mehta struck one for Harvesters.

The third chukker was goalless.

In the fourth chukker, Qubilai brought his team 6-5 up for the first time, scoring twice, following which his teammate Mian Khurram Munir fired one to seal the fate of the match.

Five goals by Hashim Kamal Agha helped Al Khan trounce Guard Filters 9 1/2-4. Raja Sattar (2), Mohtashim and Omar Niazi one each were the other scorers for the winners, who had half-goal handicap.

For the losers, Taimur Ali Malik banged home three goals while Ibrahim Akbar chipped in with one.

Four goals by Ibrahim Pataudi guided Mixed Bag to an emphatic 7-3 win against Master Paints. Syed Mohammad Raza (2) and Kasim Ahmad Khan (1) were the other scorers.

For the losers, Sufi Mohammad Aamir (2) and Abdul Haye Mehta (1) were the scorers.

Five-goal Agha Murtaza Ali Khan gave Punjab Rangers an impressive 7-3 win against Diamonds Paints. Nadir and Saeed Aslam Khan earned one goal, apiece.
