Five killed, 22 injured in road accident

CHAKWAL, Nov 15: Five persons died and 22 sustained injuries in a truck-coach collision on Chakwal-Rawalpindi Road near Behkari about four kilometres from Chakwal here on Wednesday.

The ill-fated coach (AJK-5359) was heading towards Rawalpindi, carrying students of Nursing School, Chakwal. However, when it reached near Behkari village, it hit a truck standing on the side of the road.

As a result, the coach driver, Muhammad Bashir, and student Surrayya Bibi died on the spot, while Fouzia, Hameeda and Abida succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.

The injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ), Chakwal, where emergency had already been declared.

Social workers rushed to the spot soon after the incident and helped police and district administration in shifting the bodies and the injured to the hospital.

Saddar police, Chakwal, have registered a case and started investigation.
